Rogers City was a fantastic event! The 12 & Under skippers have some of the fastest arms we have seen for that age group. The division came down to a stone skip-off tiebreaker. It took 3 skip-offs to finally break the tie, and it was still close! We had our first Kerplunking participant also.
The Amateur division was also talented all around. All Amateur participants advanced to the pro division, with only 1 skip being the difference between the winner and second place in both divisions.
The friends and families of the participants cheered everyone on and really made our day! Thank you everyone and we hope this event can continue next year as well. Thank you for donating to the Friends Together Group in Alpena who does a tremendous job in supporting those with cancer in Michigan, as well as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
We took pictures of all the winners. If you would like your picture on the website, send us an email. Thank you!
The Mancelona event at Wetzel Lake was preceded by plenty of rain. By the time the competition started, the rain let up and we had a grand time. Funds were raised for the Mancelona Food Pantry and cash prizes were awarded, along with trophies, t-shirts and Bibles. Thank you to Mancelona Pathway Church for the generous donation of Bibles!
For lunch, there were hot dogs and other snacks donated by Antrim Church of Christ and the Mancelona Food Pantry. Many other volunteers from Antrim Church of Christ were there to help organize the event as well. It was a great day overall. Jim Bates traveled here from Flushing Michigan to showcase his skills and win the pro division. Jim had multiple skips over 20 and donated his cash prize back to the food pantry. Jim is certainly a pro that we look up to! Josh Stevens won the amateur division and was a close runner up in the pro division. Josh also donated his winnings back as well; thank you Josh!
We are hoping for sunnier skies next year and are tentatively aiming for a July 5th competition next year.
