The goals of the Rock of Ages Stone Skipping Ministry are to:
Give glory to God, who sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross and provide for us a way to have eternal life with Him. We are a non-denominational organization. It is our desire to share with you promises of God, along with an opportunity to get involved with a local church, bible studies and also be baptized.
Bring awareness to those in need and raising funds for local, worthwhile causes. These worthwhile causes may be for organizations that help provide for the needs of the community, or for specific people or families in need. Find additional ways to show the love of Christ to the community causes.
Spread the joy and challenge that competitive stone skipping provides. Stone skipping is a free pastime that helps many to unwind. It is our goal to share the results of every Rock of Ages stone skipping contest on our Stone Skipping Records page (please be patient with us as we are still under construction). The more events that are started, the more times you can enter and see how you rank among all stone skippers. We will attempt to also enter records from more well-established tournaments as well.
How Rock of Ages started:
Every July 4, Mackinaw Island hosts a stone skipping event that draws people from around the world. Seeing the fun atmosphere for the entire family opened my eyes to the opportunity to bring the Good News to local communities, while supporting worthwhile causes in those communities. The folks on Mackinaw Island put on a fantastic event and have multiple professional stone skippers. It is not our desire to draw anybody away from that event and would encourage anybody to check out that event, along with other more established stone skipping events throughout the country.
Below is a list of many of the already established skipping and skimming events around the world. They are not affiliated with Rock of Ages, however we hope that you can take part in these events someday! If you see some events not listed here, let us know, so they can also be recognized. Many of these events raise funds and awareness for worthwhile causes and are organized in a professional manner. They have set a great example and have tremendous volunteers!
